His surgery was scheduled for 7:30am and we had to be at the hospital at 6:00am. Bryson could not eat after 3:30am. i was dreading all of the hours of screaming (he eats every 2 hrs. on the dot). he slept like an angel until his pre-surgery exam at 7:15. I attribute his great sleep to everyone's prayers. It made the morning much less stressful!! We carried Bryson to the doors of the O.R. and handed him off the the anestesiologist at 7:45. The surgery was scheduled for 2 hrs, but took 3 hrs because they found a second hernia on his left side (they scoped down through his belly button). And then his urethra had some weak/thin tissue that needed repair. But both surgeons said everything went very well.
Watching Bryson wake up was very sad. They said babys only need tylenol, but he obviously needed more. He would cry and cry and his heart rate kept going above 200 beats and his oxygen would go down to the 70's. Finally they got him some motrin and lortab. He had a tough time staying awake and had to be on blow by oxygen almost constant, so about 4:00pm they decided to admit him to the hospital. As soon as they took us to our room his oxygen levels were great. So they watched us for a couple of more hours and let us go home around 8:00pm.
He has been doing really well. You can tell he is uncomfortable and he is definately swollen and brused, but he is a trouper. Hopefully his little body continues to heal well. The doctors say he should be back to normal in 5-7 days. I cannot wait.
Thank you everyone for your support and prayers. they were definately felt.

Glad to hear things went well. Hope he'll heal quickly!
We are so glad to hear that he is doing well. I understand the waking up part. Allison with her heart, and even Matthew with his ears (real simple) I still cried when they let us back there. I don't know if it's just the overwhelming feeling that it's done, or to see them just laying there, it got me both times. And it's still getting me now just writing about it. The end of the week just think of what a happy boy you are going to have. Probably even more happy before you realized something was wrong. What a happy day for all of you!!
Tami - you need a vacation! I wish Boise were a more desirable place to visit! You are amazing.
