August - Shauna, Alpine Parade and Vernal

We love to go to parades during the summer. The Lehi parade, our favorite we had a nasty fever bug and didn't make it. Then Scott and I took the boys to the Highland parade while Emilee was at Mckall's cabin. It was so fun and got us all excited for Alpine's parade. My friend Shauna was in town with her kids so we all packed up and got set up. The parade was a whole 30 min long... That was hardly worth the effort!! So disappointing!!
Rylie, Emilee, Blake, Quincy, Camden and the top of Shauna's head. :)
We had a bunch of awesome, amazing thunder and lighting storms in August. The boys sleep through them like a rock, but Emilee always would wake up and come sleep in our room. The boys found the sleeping bag and thought it looked like great fun to play in. :)

Vernal: Then for some odd reason, we planned to raft the Green River when there was a chance of thunderstorms.... Go figure. But we had an absolute blast!! We stayed at my brother's house in Vernal for a few days. The kids played and played and played. We spent one day rafting. We did an easy section of the river just below the Flaming Gorge Dam. When we set out it was totally sunny. The kids were so cute and loving the rapids. Bryson sat up front with Scott and I. So we'd paddle up to the rapids and then stop paddling and hold onto Bryson for dear life. It's a pretty mellow section of water, but because we had such a wet spring it was higher than normal. We hit some pretty fun rapids. Blake sat behind Scott, knelt down paddling the whole way. Emilee laid in the middle of the raft with Allison during the rapids laughing the whole way as they bounced around. Then about 30 min into the float we were surrounded by lightning, and poured on. We were drenched, cold and concerned about the lightning. The kids were especially cold. We were starting to worry this may have been a bad idea. We pulled to the side to warm up kids and pump up the rafts. The storm moved on ahead. We started floating again and could see the storm in front of us and another one behind. We floated the rest of the way right under the break. It was wonderful and we had a marvelous time!! Definitely need to start that as a tradition. Oh yes, and I can't forget dad's shinning moment. He was being a little silly on some of the rapids, sending us down sideways and backwards. On one he set us up sideways and the front and back caught on a rock. The front freed itself and spun the back around popping dad strait up into the air and into the water. He was okay, making the event hilarious!! Thank you dad for a great laugh!!!!!
